Running around in dizzyingly high heels, throwing sips of coffee in our mouths at any given opportunity, fashion week was upon us and 2017 is set to be a fashion explosion if the catwalks are anything to go by. Taking statements to new heights, earrings get waterfall-wonderful; classic button down shirts are transformed into dresses, wrapped and cropped; whilst it looks like the sheer trend is here to stay. As the models stormed the catwalks in London, Paris, Milan and New York – we were taking notes of every fashion turn we need to make to have a sartorially significant start to 2017, and we are so excited to share it with you!
Awash with colour
In terms of colour, it looks like yellow is going to be a major player in your 2017 wardrobe, but think bright and bold…it is time to leave the mellow at home, with Beyoncé’s Lemonade having full effect on designer’s mind; this is no wallflower colour but something to make your outfit pop! Trial a small accessory in eye catching yellow for the new season if you’re not ready to embrace a full outfit of the colour just yet.
Something to go with that?
Accessories get outsized as earrings go over the top and graze shoulders in weird and wonderful forms, whilst belts get long and strong winding around waists! It definitely seems accessories are going to let our outfits do all the talking in 2017.
Stylish, Shapely and Suggestive
It is time to play a bit of peek-a-boo with slipping shoulders, tops get a bit re-vamp with a relaxed sexy vibe as necklines dip off one shoulder to reveal a slither of skin, just enough to stay modest! In line with the good-girl-gone-bad necklines, pair your dipping necklines with thigh high socks that were seen everywhere on the catwalks, go athletic and pair with leather for the perfect sartorial twist. It looks like 2016’s fashion winner of ruffles is here to stay throughout 2017, although they’ve received a fresh update with a cascading effect, so invest in some waterfall ripples of ruffles from the waist down to really nail 2017 styling. Take your classic boyfriend shirt and get ready for a fashion-makeover, with shirting getting edgy, wrap styles, cropped midriff beauties and mismatched shirt dresses that will make you feel a bit like Two-face from Batman – this is one office trend that will wow your colleagues. Of course, sheer has been on everyone’s lips for the past year, but knowing how to rock the sheer trend has been an issue, unless you’re a 6 ft. glamazon model it doesn’t quite seem practical to rock to your local shops in a nipple bearing top! However, 2017 has the answer of layered transparency on the runway, so you can bare in a more comfortable way – which we can’t wait to do!
So, to round up…
With a lot of impressive collections donning the catwalks in all the cities, it was clear a few really stood out from established industry heavyweights to the buzz-worthy newcomers, it was a plethora of outstanding fashion on display. Definitely wowing was Alexander Wang’s surf-inspired spring break capsule that made us giddy for summer days, whilst Coach took it to a biker gang level pairing band printed t-shirts with rockabilly lace skirts that had us wanting to be part of gang, and that was theirs! On the other side, Monse, a newcomer really impressed with stunning eveningwear and their signature shirt silhouettes that had us wanting to snatch up every style that donned the catwalk! Another fresh designer, Sies Marjan, really made a statement with her second collection based on full colour stories, with outfits of dazzling green, orange and lemon really giving a modern edge to classic designing. We were totally knocked off our stilettos by the fashion frenzy that was fashion week 2017, but we definitely can’t wait to sink our teeth into these latest styles…can it be Spring already please?
